Wild Olea is a farm, but it’s also an adventure in the making. For two workaholics, creating Wild Olea was a step toward building a simplified life. What we didn’t expect was how many people wanted to be involved, in some small part, with this ongoing story. This site is a way to unveil how our farmhouse is coming together, and hopefully to inspire some other city dwellers to take on the challenge of taming the “wild.”
The name Wild Olea comes from this concept and one other. Olea oleaster is the scientific name for the wild-olive tree, which was known for its hardiness and use in carpenter’s tools. The New Testament refers to the Gentiles as wild-olive branches that are grafted into the family of believers (Romans 11:17).
